Love Letters

Do you remember your first love letter? I do. It was to my 5th Grade boyfriend, Greg, which would have made it somewhere around 1993. I can remember wanting to make it perfect so that it conveyed my love for him. I spent hours on that letter, which looking back was only a few sentences and ended with a “Do you love me too? Check Yes or No”. {sidebar: I miss the check Yes or No option at the end of letters. Do you?}

I’m not sure the exact date of the love letter, but I know that it was just before or just after 5th grade, I was at summer church camp. I was probably busy writing the ultimate love letter when I should have been learning about Jesus! All I can remember is that I was so nervous handing that letter to my best friend, Breann, so that she could give it to his best friend, Corey.  {Sidebar: Pre-texting life was so much more suspenseful, rather than just pushing send you had to sit with the suspense of will my letter get there?!?}

I remember sitting in the night church service and watching as Corey pass the love letter to Greg. I was so nervous as I saw him read the letter thoughts raced through my mind:

Did he feel the same?

Will he check “Yes”?

Did I explain my feeling adequately?

While Greg never really confirmed in words that it was indeed the perfect love letter, that night, he did walk me back to my dorm and kissed me under a lamppost, so I guess if nothing else, I know that it was “good enough.” {Fun Fact: The one detail I remember of my first kiss was that he had on a lot of Carmex lol}

Looking back, that was the easiest love letter that I have ever written. Truthfully, they only got harder as I got older. Regardless of who the love letter was written to, I always wanted to make sure it was just right and that I got my emotions into words that could be read and understood by the receiver.

In 2006, I heard a Mother Teresa quote that stirred something in my soul:

“I’m a little pencil in the hand of a writing God, who is sending a love letter to the world.”

Mother Teresa

It resonated with me at such a deep level, and I knew then at that moment that I was about to begin writing the most profound love letter I would ever write, my love letter to the world. At that moment, God whispered to me; this love letter is your gift to the world; it’s your purpose and your legacy all in one.

The truth is I believe my love letter began the day I was born, I didn’t know it yet, but it wasn’t until 2006 when I picked up the pen. These past few weeks, 14 years later, I have found myself thinking more about my love letter to the world more than ever before. During this new way of doing things where we are “physical distancing and retreating for wellness,” I have found myself thinking more about my future and my purpose. {sidebar: Don’t these sound so much better than social distancing, isolation, and quarantine?}

During this time, I have enjoyed having the time to be still and seek God because the reality is I’m 40 years old and want to make sure I impact, empower and ignite as many people as possible.

This past month I have been thinking more and more about legacies, and one legacy stands out to me, the heritage of my maternal grandma, Maudie. Before she passed, she hand wrote her memoirs and had it bound into a book entitled, A Glimpse into My Life, and then she had 14 copies printed, one for each of her grandchildren. It is one of my most prized possessions.

Her memoirs offer a deep, intimate, and real glimpse into her life, and although she is absent in human form, I feel her closeness. Truthfully, I wish my mom had kept a handwritten memoir that would offer me a glimpse into her life, allowing me to know her and learn from her lessons intimately, but that will have to remain a wish.

Then today, while I was in the shower {where I seem to do my best thinking and listening, you too?}, God whispered to me that I need to offer a glimpse into my life, and the truth is this isn’t the first time he has whispered this to me.

A few years ago, I felt the same nudge, I went as far as to buy the domain, www.aglimpseintomylife.com, but that was as far as I got, then. But, today was different, today I knew that it’s time to go deeper into my love letter, bare more of my journey and to commit to illuminating the path for as many people as possible.

Today, April 5th, 2020, is the day I commit to getting more intimate and giving a deeper glimpse into my journey in hopes to fulfill my purpose on this planet adequately, because…

My love letter is my legacy.

Dear {insert your name}

It is my hope that by offering you a glimpse into my life, it opens a deeper insight into your own and that by hearing more about my journey, you are more empowered on your own.

May my own story be a reminder that you are strong enough, worthy enough, and that you have the power to create a reality and life you love. \

I want you to know that whether or not you believe it, your creation was not an accident, it was with a purpose, and in perfection, you have to choose to see it and own it.

This letter is your reminder that “it” will be okay and that this moment you are going through is only a moment, it is for you, don’t for a minute choose to believe it is happening to you.

Don’t allow any part of your story to become an anchor that holds you back from creating and living a life you love! Stay rooted in where you have been and use every part of your journey as fertilizer to grow more, love more, and be more.

I hope that as you take a more in-depth look into my journey that you will learn tools to help you along the way with your journey. Know that I believe in you, which matters, but what matters is that you believe in you.

Innately, DRM xoxo

And so today, the most intimate part of my love letter to the world begins and it is for YOU – I will be sharing more of me with you.

Innately, DRM xoxo

A Glimpse into My Life

“We must validate our life and its worth for others.  It can only be done on earth – others must feel our life worthwhile.”

Jean Condon Murphy, her memoirs, A Glimpse into My Life

Looking back over my grandmother’s memoirs, I can’t help but feel a sense of closeness to a woman I dearly loved who no longer walks this earth, but rather sits in heaven awaiting her families arrival, smiling down in nostalgia with a deep sense of joy for those she loves.

Taking a glimpse into her life as she so eloquently insinuated with her memoir entitled so, a plethora of emotions and a deep sense of connection take me on a journey through her life, seeing the similarities and the vast differences of our separate journeys.

Throughout her memoirs I am able to see “the other side” of events we shared and those of stories, which others have told, laughing at how two people can see the same event so differently. A sense of relief fills my soul, seeing a woman who I deemed as “perfect” eloquently share her imperfections and allow her truths to be unveiled as a token of love and lesson for those whom she loved. There is warmth that comes with knowing “I am not alone”.

In a world plagued by loneliness and discouragement, a deep sense of connection to another human being is almost a necessity.  While physically connecting is not always possible, an emotional connection is not only within arm’s reach but a necessity to propagate a sense of belonging and encouragement.  A glimpse into the life of another human being can offer solace even in the darkest times.

It’s interesting how that misconception that everyone else’s life must be “perfect” blankets the mind of individuals who feel they are bathing in life’s imperfect moments,  no one is sheltered from life’s thunderstorms, no one.

Have we as a society been trained to mask “thunderstorm” moments, down play the harsher moments of life, or simply only share the “sunniest” of moments whilst secretly seeking to have connection during the darkest of times? Stop and ask yourself are you willing to be RAW–real and authentic, offering a glimpse into your life to those seeking solace or are skeletons better left in your closet?

Since, a young child I have relied on a deep sense of knowing, mine comes from God, which shined like a beacon in the darkest of times and provided a sense of solace that the world did not offer. No, I am not immortal to pain, I just knew that their was a meaning behind the pain and was empowered by what was to come.

Society is plagued by depression or discouragement, which literally means to disempower, to remove power. Imagine if there was a global shift from disempowerment to human empowerment, the rise in depression would be greatly halted.

Having experienced my own thunderstorms and darkest hours, I see the need to be more than just light in the darkness but to seek to ignite the inner spark that lies in every single person, being more real, more authentic, and more raw, giving a glimpse of my life in exchange for hope … where there is hope there is life.

It is through my life I hope others find the necessary tools to live an empowered life with hope, understanding that abundance is their birthright.  It is through me I hope they see the love of God begin to live an empowered life. Take a glimpse into my life and join the movement to “be empowered, be RAW, be you…to be innate”.

“Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer…”

Romans 12:12

Be FREE, Be YOU, Be RAW

I once heard, “you have to get, lost to truly find yourself” and moving across the world revealed the truth in this statement.

I have always been intrigued by the fact that people thought they knew me better than I knew myself, and lately I have been intrigued by the fact- that I thought I knew me. Right now you either get what I am saying, or you think it’s crazy for me to say that there is a possibility – YOU don’t even know yourself.

Before you decide whether to subscribe to my blog or to go bashing me on Facebook for being completely crazy, I encourage you to read this blog in its entirety.

There was a time when the one thing that drove me crazy was when people thought they knew “who I was” or eluded to knowing how I operate, almost better than I knew myself. Now a year and a half later I laugh that I thought I knew who I was before moving across the world.

I once heard a powerful statement, “your greatest strength is your weaknesses on overload,” from a dear friend and coach, Dr. Barry Warren. When I first heard this statement, I questioned Barry as to what he was talking about, but after I allowed it to reverb within I was able to see the truth and apply it to my journey.

Most people would say I was outgoing, eccentric, and extroverted as they see it. Truth, be told, I am shy, nervous, and introverted; unless I am comfortable. The key word being comfortable; therefore, my patients, friends, family, and audiences would never believe that I was a nervous, shy, introvert, who was nervous about what others thought; that’s because they know me in my comfort zone. My true friends, like my boyfriend, Dean and best friends, Amanda, Breann, Blair, and Janice; know this and are probably glad “the cat is out of the bag.”

I’m not sure I can explain what happens to an individual when they leave everything they know to be true and start fresh in a completely new space, in another country, another time zone, and in a different hemisphere. Something happens at a soul level, when you are suddenly and completely out of your comfort zone, and no one knows you.

I am so blessed to have an awesome person like, Dean, with me on this transformational experience, but even he will tell you that being transplanted to New Zealand has caused a spark, allowing more of me to shine. There is a strong possibility that the move had nothing to do with it, but rather I was finally “okay” with me; none-the-less getting lost allowed me to find myself.

Have you ever stopped and evaluated yourself? Don’t worry I hadn’t either, until I moved to New Zealand, and all the sudden everyone was trying to find out about the new American girl in Tuakau, New Zealand. I should mention; Tuakau’s population is 3,500 and that I am the only American in the town and one of maybe a dozen in the whole county. The energy of everyone wanting to know who I was, motivated me to do the same.

I was about to find out who Martha Nessler was? Suddenly, I was removed from ALL of my comfort zones, from anything and anyone familiar, and I was free to express me fully. As exciting as it sounds it was quite scary.

I had a blank canvas and free to paint and express. It was at this point I realized the impact my family, friends, teachers, and preachers (MFTP) had on me since day one, but here I was and the only thing controlling my expression of self was myself.

Don’t worry I am still me, just a bit freer.

Today, I found myself, on July 4th (the southern hemisphere), walking on the beach in cowboy boots, my favorite jeans, my Marmot down coat, and favorite two silk scarfs, whimsically entwined. Yes, I said cowboy boots on the beach, which I know my dad is smiling as he reads this.

It was the cowboy boots that lead to this blog. As I stared into the beautiful ocean that lay in front of me, knowing that Dean was watching with a smile, I began to realize the RAW beauty of my transformation.

I was still me a farm girl from the Midwest, transplanted by love to a beautiful island half way across the world; same woman, same boots, just a bit more authentic to herself.

There was a day, when I would have worried a bit more about wearing my cowboy boots on the beach, but today I felt FREE in my boots, knowing I am me!

It is my wish that on this Independence Day, July, 4, 2014, is a day which everyone feels a bit more freedom of self expression!

Much Love. Keep it Real, RAW, and Natural and Be A REAL Human BEING!

I Used to Think Essential Oils Were Liquid Potpourri

I am the first one to admit, I really didn’t get what the hype was on essential oils? Until about a year and a half ago I thought they were amazing for enhancing potpourri, lavender was great for a relaxing bath, peppermint could help ease a headache, and that was my limited knowledge.  When people would share with me their “oil experiences and oil uses” I was excited for them, but I will admit, and I am going to be honest, that I thought essentials were a bit of hocus pocus.   That was my belief, until I had my  first couple “oil experiences”, until I realized the healing properties of essential oils.  So about a year and a half ago I decided to find out what the hype on essential oils really was about? So, I ordered  a kit of dōTERRA oils (the EVERY oil kit – I wanted to have them all) and started researching essential oils.  I have to admit I was amazed…I had no idea they were mentioned 500 times directly in the Bible, that Romans and Egyptians used them.  I also had no idea that there is an oil for everything! Did you know that you can put diluted (with a carrier oil/dōTERRA fractionated coconut oil) oregano on a wart? Or that peppermint works with digestion, fevers, headaches, and that is just the beginning? Or that citrus oils are great for depressions? Frankincense works wonders on acne and cancer cells – there is even message on pubmed.gov on frankincence? These are just a few of the uses for essential oils.  As a chiropractor and wellness expert, I was drawn to the healing properties of essential oils giving an avenue other than pharmaceuticals and over the counter for individuals seeking wellness alternatives.

One key aspect I found in my research on essential oils was that essential oils cross cell membranes, promoting cellular healing and DNA repair.  This ONE point completely shifted my perspective, since then I have incorporated essential oils in to my daily wellness routine.  Cellular health is really important especially when you realize you are only as healthy as your cells!

This is just a bit of information when researching what the hype on essential oils really was about! If you are interested in learning more I have a webinar I think you will love – it includes the June 2014 special from dōTERRA! Just click here and enjoy! And if you want to read a bit more info, which I have accumulated then simply click here!

Choose To Be Passionate

Seen in the October 2012 issue of the Chiropractic Journal (http://www.thechiropracticjournal.com/news17.php?M=october&Y=2012)

Just like anything in life, being passionate is a choice. Everyone possesses a dormant spark of passion, just waiting to be ignited when given permission to take the reins. Passion is the fuel that propels individuals in the fulfillment of personal purpose. When they set their inner passion free they begin to illuminate the world with their spirit. Passionate people allow internal guidance to take the lead and guide their experience in their external environment. Simply put, they let their heart lead.

Passion is intense and vibrant, uncontrollable and uncontainable. Passion is an energetic expression of an individual. Passion illuminates your purpose and expands your mission field. The energy around passion is intriguing, contagious, and energizing. In passion lies the secret to loving more, serving more, doing more and in turn having a life that’s more than you could have ever dreamed because energetically you’re creating more. It’s this internal energy that allows people to create the life of their dreams. Passion is the fuel that both perseveres and endures.

Passionate individuals have the ability to light up a room with the energy of life that emanates from within, fully expressing their innate. It isn’t that people don’t want to be passionate, it’s that they are afraid to be passionate. Being passionate means letting go, which is so hard for so many because being comfortable is much easier. By letting go a person begins to strike the match igniting their internal passion and catapulting them into a more passionate existence.

A more passionate existence enhances your life and all that it encompasses including your significant other, career, family, and most importantly yourself. Once you ignite the wick that resides within you, you light up your life and illuminate the world around you with innate love. Your soul purpose then begins to surface and navigate you in the direction that best serves you.

Falling in love with who you are as an innate being is the foundation of unbridled passion. Allowing yourself to alleviate any self-criticism and to see yourself as divinely created with perfect intention. Slowly, you’ll begin to have self-acceptance for who you are, a better self-image, and the utmost respect for yourself alleviating any worthiness issues or judgment. Once you stop critiquing yourself, you’ll see that what others think of you doesn’t matter and that nobody can create your experiences but you.

It’s imperative to realize life’s a journey that’s yours to create and entrusting innate to lead will ensure success! We’re all innate beings on an innate journey and God’s intention for existence is that we’re able to create the life of our dreams.

Each individual, as the sole author of his or her own journey, is upon conception given a pen and paper to write a love letter to the world. Too many times family and friends assume the role of co-author of someone else’s journey, letting their thots, standards, expectations, and emotions dictate anothers experience. Rather, loved ones are supporting actors along for the ride. Not letting one’s external environment control his or her internal expression is key to increasing passion and falling in love with life! Being a passionate person, I can tell you that once you’ve decided to let passion take the lead, my best advice is to hang on and enjoy the ride. By definition, passion’s uncontrollable, untamable, and must be endured. So, expect to have abounding love, heightened sensations, boosted successes, and a little more turbulence at times. But, if you seek a journey that will fulfill your heart’s desire, heighten your earthly experience, elevate your consciousness, and illuminate your world with innate love, then it’s worth the ride!

So, get out your pen and begin your love letter to the world – and leave a legacy of passionate love to inspire others to do the same.

With Innate Love,

Dr. Martha Nessler

Chiropractic: Miracle vs. Expectation

Everyone loves a miracle. Miracles provide that feel good endorphin rush that just when you think a scenario has no hope of changing direction, “poof!” and God’s divine intervention shines through and the tables are turned. Have we lowered our expectations due to lack of hope in such a way that expectations are often misconstrued as miracles?

What it is a miracle? The Webster-Merriam Dictionary defines a miracle as “an extraordinary event manifesting divine intervention in human affairs”. A miracle is something unexplainable that occurs, an extraordinary unexplainable event. Being stranded in a desert where there has NEVER been water and suddenly you see an oasis ahead of you or being ran over by a car and walking away with NO injuries are both perfect examples of miracles; both are instances where there was clearly divine intervention. A miracle is always unexpected and exemplifies God’s perfect intent.

Expected is the antonym of unexpected and is defined in the same dictionary as “to anticipate or look forward to the coming or occurrence of” or “to consider probable of”. Expecting something will happen is an expectation. Each year you expect the grass to turn green, the flowers to bloom, and the seasons to change because they are normal occurrences. Expectations are accompanied by a sense of knowing they too occur via the intention of God but because they are rhythmic in occurrence often they are not given the recognition of a miracle.

Expectations are of divine intention and miracles are of divine intervention. The innate function of the all-living creatures is divine intention; all living creatures possess an innate. Innate joins two cells and produces a human in 280 days, wings birds and intuitively they fly, fang animals and inherently they know to kill there own food, and gives breath and life to every living creature. All living creatures possess an inborn potential to function and heal themselves innate is the driving force. Innate delivers a mental impulse that allows for full manifestation of life, innate must be expressed.

To the educated mind the releasing of the imprisoned impulse in chiropractic is often viewed as a “chiropractic miracle”. The phrase “chiropractic miracle” is often used in such a context as, “My friend who was dying of cancer went to this chiropractor and got well. It was really a miracle!” Or “My friend’s son was born deaf and started seeing this chiropractor and now he has full hearing. It was truly a miracle. We are just so blessed.” These are just a couple of examples that exemplify how innate’s inherent manifestation is often perceived by man to be a miracle. “Chiropractic Expectation” better explains innate’s intention. “Chiropractic Expectation” reinforces the anticipation and probability that what is happening is exactly what is supposed to happen.

Knowing innate’s intention and complexity I can see where chiropractic releasing the imprisoned impulse can appear miraculous to the educated man. But, it is imperative for the preservation and progression of chiropractic that we educate and explain so that chiropractic is understood as an expectation and not a miracle. This differentiation will allow people to begin to grasp that chiropractic is not health thru divine intervention but that it facilitates full expression of innate via divine intention.

The Thot-Flash: Educated vs. Innate

The Thot-Flash: Educated vs. Innate

Sunday as I was checking out in the grocery store and I casually said, “Hello!” to the kind gentleman behind me in line.  He was somewhere in his late 70’s, had on what appeared to be is Sunday cowboy hat, a long beard that had stood the test of time, and around his neck was a blue tie that had a scripture written on it.  He was a kind man and the combination of his warm smile and adorable attire brought an immediate smile to my face and warmed my heart.  We exchanged a few words and then silently I waited for my total.  Immediately as the cashier said, “That will be $43.76.”

He said, “Will you get mine too?”

Innately I responded, “If you need me to I will.”

He shrugged and said, “No, it’s all good.”

I told him that is was no trouble and that God blesses those who bless others so I was more than happy to take care of his groceries.  He again said it was “ok”.  Innately I knew it wasn’t.  As I gathered my four bags I realized his purchase was small containing only a 12-pack of toilet paper and some Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice.  I watched him for a second as he looked thru his wallet and fumbled for cash and my Innate kept nudging me to pay.  I didn’t know how to pay for his groceries without embarrassing him at that point but internally my Innate was having a dialogue with me that I should pay.  I turned and walked out of the store, while I was leaving the scenario my Innate was very much still in the previous scenario and I began to know I SHOULD have paid for his groceries and NEEDED to pay for his groceries.  As I loaded my groceries and began to back out of my parking spot my Innate began to get louder, if your Innate is anything like mine when it gets loud you listen.  So, I reach in my purse, pulled out a twenty and sat in my car waiting for the gentleman to exit.  My educated mind began to interfere and cloud my mind with thoughts: “You can’t just give this random guy $20!” and “You are going to look like a stalker waiting for an elderly man to get in his car.” and “Have you lost your mind?” Just as he got in his car my educated mind began to take the lead and I began to drive off and just as I was about to leave my Innate got loud and said, “WHAT? Are you doing? There is a reason that man asked you to pay for his groceries.  There is a reason you were there in line at that EXACT moment in time.  There was a reason you reached out to him with a warm hello and he reached out to you for help.  Now turn around and give him that twenty dollar bill!” I immediately turned around parked behind him as to block him in (now I am a crazy lady not only stalking an elderly man but barricading him in his parking spot!), I jumped of my car with the $20 in hand, knocked on his window quietly and as he opened the door I handed him the cash and lovingly said, “God wanted me to buy your groceries and I want you to have this money.”  I also, told him that he was loved and that his smile warmed my heart.  Tears filled his eyes and he said, “You don’t have to.”

I replied, “I know I don’t have to, I want to.” I then scurried away as to end the conversation and to assure he kept the money.  As I drove off, in a state of gratitude, I silently thanked my Innate for the thot-flash that prompted me and for its persistence in the matter.

We all have an Innate or we wouldn’t be alive and we all get thot-flashes; whether or not we heed them is an individual decision.   The irony is that rather than listening to Innate many people allow their educated (worldy) mind to cause an intervention and silence Innate.  In The Glory of Going On by BJ Palmer, Vol 37 in Chapter 5, How Does Innate Contact Education. BJ begins the chapter by attempting to (if possible to put truly put into words) the greatness of Innate.  He reminds readers that “Innate was immaculate enough to conceive, build, direct, control, regulate, and repair the building of a complete unit of a child in uterus in 280 days, surely it was immaculate enuf to tell the petty education of a few short years what to do, where, when, and why. (p. 57)” Really think about the complexity of a human, how a human begins with two tiny cells and in nine months there is a tiny person that emerges from the womb.  I am awed each time I see a newborn knowing that innate had perfect intention and in the eyes of that child that intention shines. Yet, we as educated people question Innate.   Because we don’t understand something and want to know when, why, where, what, and how or we wonder what others will think or how they will respond. But who is in charge?

In my opinion, the major misconception that educated beings have is that they are in charge. This could not be father from the truth.  We are in charge of nothing and Innate is in charge of everything and when it all boils down it really doesn’t matter who, what, when, where, or why because it will “just be” because the intention is so.

What do you do when Innate speaks? Do you listen and act or does your educated mind cloud Innate’s perfect intention. Do you question Innate and try to get an educated meaning and understand the why, when, how, where, and what? Each day I find myself becoming more and more Innate and trusting more in more in perfect intention and realizing more and more its not about me or what I think should be.  Ultimately, you have to ask yourself, “Do I trust Innate?”

Personally, I strive to be still and allow my Innate to flow from the above, down, inside, and out and trust in Innate’s perfect intention.  Yes, there are times my educated mind creeps in, like yesterday when it tried it’s best to sway me, but when I silence my educated mind and allow Innate to preside I always smile and know that all is as it should be and that it is always as it is intended.

May your Innate always flow from the above, down, inside, and out.

“Lightening Bug Moments”: Innate Communication

Lightening bugs let you know that summer has arrived and regardless of age they generate a smile and sense of awe.  What makes lightening bugs so intriguing is that they make a light within their bodies.  Through the process known as bioluminescence they internally light up to attract a mate.  The special cells within their abdomen allow them to illuminate, thus becoming more attractive and more noticeable.  Illumination is an unspoken communication to let possible mates know if they are or are not interested in mating.  Bioluminescence is innate to the lightening bug and other organisms and is a dominate form of communication.

Since February, I have done a dozen EPOCs and COREs across the nation.  I traveled coast to coast, been to small towns and large cities, and spoken to a wide variety of audiences full of chiropractors and their support teams. Regardless of the city I was in or the size of the crowd that I had attracted one thing was always the same, the feeling of innately knowing the crowd had had a pivotal shift.  Whether I am sharing my heart in front of thousands or one-one with a practice member, when the light bulb goes off I know they got it!

People are no different than lightening bugs, while we don’t physically illuminate since we are not innately adorned with the process of bioluminescence, we still light up when we get a cellular shift.  I love looking into the eyes of someone, connecting with them, and innately knowing they were different just moments before.  The innate ability to create a virtual luminescence is an intimate and silent form of communication, that says “I got it.  Thank you.”

At the end of the day, whether in the office, out and about, or having just shared with a crowd I always reflect and re-hash to see the days success and continually make the necessary changes in my behavior and dialogue to constantly serve at a higher level.  To me the more “lightening bug moments” I saw in my day the more successful the day.  And the beauty of my lightening bugs is that they live year round, rather than being seasonal.  Just like the lightening bugs in nature, the lightening bugs in my life bring a smile to my life, elevate my happiness, and allow me to feel innately successful at the end of the day; they awe me.

Beginning to see the lives of the people I touch on a daily basis as lightening bugs has allowed me to have a deeper appreciation for innate and it’s abilities.  I love that that my “lightening bug moments” have allowed me to know silently that their was an innate shift within a given individual.  This small shift in my perspective has made an immense impact on my life and level of service.  Start looking for the “lightening bug moments” in your life and just like when you were a child, sit back, smile, and be awed.

Caught the Wave and Got My Spizz On

Dr. Martha’s Monday Morning Motivational

“Caught the Wave and Got My Spizz On”

This weekend as a team, my staff and I,  attended The Wave at Life West College.  It was a fantastic weekend of spizz, being dipped in chiropractic philosophy and love.  At The Wave we had the pleasure of attending the inauguration of Dr. Brian Kelly.  Chiropractic is truly blessed to have such a true visionary at the helm.  When I heard that Dr. Gerry Clum was stepping down as president of Life West College, sadness fell on my heart.  Since the first time I heard Gerry speak I was a huge fan and supporter of his.  His love for chiropractors and the profession was refreshing and combining that with his desire to raise up principled chiropractors made me know that because of him the future of chiropractic would be strong.  Hearing Brian’s heart this weekend put to rest any worries that Gerry’s vision would die as he passed the presidential torch.  After this weekend there is no doubt in my mind that Life West will be producing principled chiropractors, chiropractors that will guard our sacred trust.

Dr. Kelly’s vision does not stop with students but rather encompasses a better understanding and appreciation of chiropractic and chiropractors throughout the world.  Summed up, he wants to create the necessary wave in chiropractic to create a shift in chiropractic and chiropractors.  This past weekend at “The Wave” was a perfect example of his desire to inspire, lift up, and educate chiropractors! He provided a weekend centered around philosophy and abounding in “Tic Talk” from some of the profession’s most inspiring and ““spizzed”” out chiropractors!

“The Wave” is a must attend for next year! Personally, my staff and I had an amazing well-rounded weekend! Dr. Kelley, the talented Tina Carter, and the rest of the amazing staff at Life West Chiropractic College put on a wonderful chiropracTIC seminar! There was the perfect balance between education and fun and even included the historical moment of Dr. Kelly’s inauguration and ended with a luau! The entire weekend was abundant in chiropractic spizzerinctum! All-in-all the first Wave was a huge success and created quite the wave in chiropractic!

As chiropractors it is so important that we get dipped in chiropractic and get “spizzed”! As chiropractors, we give and give, sharing our love of chiropractic with the world and getting re-fueled is important! Just like a motor vehicle, chiropractors needs re-fueled to optimally function! Seminars are great re-fueling stations to get submerged in spizzerinctum! Spizzerinctum is a word made popular by BJ Palmer in the 1910s and 1920s and used to define chiropractic enthusiasm or excitement about chiropractic! From spizzerinctum is where we get the term ““spizzed””!

“The Wave” is one of many great seminars where you can get spizzzed! Another favorite of mine is “The California Jam” aka CalJam put on by Dr. Billy DeMoss and the Dead Chiropractic Society!  I have also heard wonderful things about New Beginnings and am hoping to attend my first New Beginnings this year in October! EPOCs, COREs, DCS, Band of Brothers, 33 DCs, and other philosophy groups are also great venues to get dipped in TIC and to be immersed in spizzerinctum! Wherever you decide to go, GO! Just get re-fueled, get “spizzed”!

My Why? for Chiropractic Defined (in the market place)

Dr. Martha’s Monday Morning Motivational

Monday, February 28, 2010

It’s time we get loud and proud about chiropractic! By now many of you know that Mayo came out with  their Guide to Alternative Medicine! In the book, they explained the various types of alternative medicine.  I am glad they are educating the pubic as to what is available for them in respect to wellness. BUT, what has me a more than a little fired up is their definition of chiropractic — it’s just not correct. Am I mad at Mayo? No.  I am frustrated in general and most of the frustration is toward chiropractic. We have to band together and educate the public. Let me me clear…I am not saying we have to pick a technique or agree on a set philosophical definition amongst ourselves.  But what we have to do is explain what we are and what we do to the public.

We need to explain what a chiropractor is and what he or she does.  We need to explain subluxation, mental impulse, cavitation, and innate so that people understand. They need to know the importance of nervous system balance and being checked by a chiropractor regularly.  We need to explain in layman’s terms so that laymen understand why chiropractic is true health.  It is imperative for the health of EVERYONE and the progression of chiropractic.

Within chiropractic I understand that there are various techniques, philosophies, views, and so much more and I am not wanting to get everyone to agree within the profession.   Rather, I am wanting people to know who we are, what we do and why they should get checked and adjusted by a chiropractor! As it stands most don’t know.  As a matter of fact barely 2% of the population gets adjusted! AND what Mayo says is not helping in the matter.   Mayo said we are for pain, maximum 4-6 manipulations, ask your MD, be in charge of your DCs recommendations, and they used the word “cracking”! It is something I can not and will not stand for at all!

My frustration drove me to begin searching the web for chiropractic — “what is chiropractic?”, “what is a chiropractor?”, “what is an adjustment?”, “what is a subluxation?”, and many more topics.  By the end I could see why the average person would be confused.  And many times “quack watch” was the first site to pop up, warning the public against chiropractic.  I knew there had to be a way to get the concrete definition for the public so that they knew what chiropractors are, why they should go, what a subluxation is, etc… This lead me to speaking with my amazing friend and colleague, Lyle Koca.  I told him my idea… he quickly saw both the need and my point.  On this mission he and his wife are my partners to establish ourselves in healthcare — where we belong and that we are correctly defined.  You may ask what was my idea?

My idea is to have a main website, www.thetruedefinitionofchiropractic.com, that clearly explains chiropractic and the whys and whats of chiropractic so that people know why and see the importance.  I have also purchased 22+ sites that will all point to the main site, www.thetruedefinitionofchiropractic.com.  So that when people google chiropractic or anything about chiropractic they get the truth.  Not lies or a version of the truth.  It’s necessary that we preserve chiropractic not only for our current generation but for the future of chiropractic.  Because, as Dr. Brad Glowaki said, “We are borrowing chiropractic from the future.”  We owe it to the future of chiropractic to begin to educate on the TRUE DEFINITION OF CHIROPRACTIC! Please understand that if we don’t educate properly then the world will continue to be misled and miseducated.

Please join with Lyle, Shawn, and I as we work for chiropractic and with chiropractors to set the record straight.  People need to know what we know in regards to the importance of chiropractic care.  They need to know why they should go, what will happen, what we can help, what a subluxation is, and the overall benefits.

PLEASE note: It is not my intent to decide whose definition presides (Stephenson vs. Palmer, etc) or to say one technique presides over another.  But, to get the word out on chiropractic! To educate on a subluxation and the importance of detection and correction.  It is my desire people understand the importance of a proper functioning nervous system and understand innate intelligence.  Plain and simple that more people obtain a chiropractor, get checked, and get adjsuted.

I am not a fighter, I am a lover.  I have no intention of starting another war in chiropractic — we have plenty going on as it stands.  So, I am not asking to re-define chiropractic..it can not be re-defined.  Chiropractic is chiropractic.  I am seeking to make chiropractic known for what chiropractic is and what it stands for since 1895.  So, understand my heart is pure and my passion is intense — I love this profession and am a chiropracTOR.  I will move on to save this profession regardless because it is who I am and I owe it to the future for this is not mine but theirs; not ours but theirs.  So, join with me and help educate the world.  If we spread the word, we can save the world! We have what they need…we have to speak up!
